A door by the theatre office on the right leads to the lighting box that was once a projection box during the time when Playhouse was a cinema, The Star Theatre, prior to 1972.

In keeping with the Art Deco style the foyer ceiling was reinstated to its original height during the 2003 refurbishment of the building.

Double doors lead to the inner Portage Foyer where patrons can either proceed up stairs left or right to balcony seating or left and right to the main auditorium seating.
