Green Room/Backstage

Playhouse Theatre provides excellent backstage facilities. A spacious 9.4 x 7.8 metre carpeted green room provides a comfortable space for users to relax in before, during or after events. A selection of sofas, seating and tables are provided and the room can be arranged to suit the hirer's needs. The green room is suitable for separate hire for meetings or workshops. A whiteboard is provided. Those backstage can view what is happening onstage by way of a TV monitor in the green room. There is a telephone provided for contacting internal theatre extensions throughout the theatre. This phone is not able to be used for outside calls but can be in an emergency for a 111 call. A first-aid kit is provided for emergency use and P.T.I. keeps their rehearsal piano in the green room.

 

Backstage kitchens:

A double kitchen arrangement is situated off the green room. The smaller kitchenette provides a large microwave and small fridge and the larger kitchen provides a dishwasher, large fridge, kitchen units with coffee/tea mugs, jugs, assorted crockery, kitchen utensils and both areas have sinks and zips for continual boiling water. In the event that the hirer is attending to cleaning of the backstage area, a caddy of cleaning products is kept under the main kitchen sink. Brooms, mops, buckets and assorted cleaning items are in the broom cupboard in the kitchenette. Tea towels, toilet rolls and liquid hand soap are provided. If preferred, hirers can choose the option of enlisting the services of professional cleaners for cleaning of the theatre during or at the conclusion of their time in the venue. Dressing rooms with adjacent showers and toilets (including disability one) are situated down a hallway off the green room. Entry to Stage and Orchestra Pit: A short flight of stairs leads up from the green room to the Playhouse stage and another leads down to an under-stage passageway that connects to an orchestra pit. Removable stage apron sections cover the orchestra pit when it is not in use.
