Stage Area

Luxurious velvet house curtains open to reveal a generous 120 square metre proscenium stage area (excluding wing space and with the orchestra pit covered).

Flexible curtain-rigs can convert the space to a smaller area more suitable for intimate productions and a centrally situated 6 metre motorised revolve can provide interesting staging effects.

A full-height interior/exterior roller-door at the back of the stage gives easy access for pack-ins and packouts of stage sets.

A trap door is available downstage right behind the house curtain line and another trap door can be installed on the centre of the stage apron by replacing some of the removable apron sections. Use of trap doors is by arrangement.

Orchestra Pit

A feature of the Playhouse stage is an optional orchestra pit. Removable sections form the stage apron and these can be dropped down to make a full orchestra pit.
A metal fence slots into holes in front of the apron to form a safety barrier between the auditorium and the pit.The pit space can accommodate up to twenty musicians. Use of the orchestra pit is by prior arrangement and incurrs additional hire charges to prepare it.
